On October 18, 2024, EXCELLERAT P2 and EuroCC Italy collaborated on a dynamic workshop in Bologna, Italy, designed to advance the use of Machine Learning (ML) and Data Analytics in engineering. This event brought together engineers, data scientists, and researchers from EXCELLERAT and EuroCC National Competence Centre Italy to exchange expertise and dive into cutting-edge ML methods that are reshaping data-driven engineering processes.

On October 16-17, 2024, the EXCELLERAT P2 project team gathered at CINECA in Bologna for the highly anticipated All-Hands Meeting. This event brought together experts and stakeholders in high-performance computing (HPC) to discuss the progress and future direction of the project.

The 53rd International Conference on Parallel Processing (ICPP) took place in Gotland, Sweden, from August 12-15, 2024, bringing together leading minds in parallel computing. As one of the oldest and most prestigious conferences in the field, ICPP serves as a key platform for presenting cutting-edge research and innovations in parallel and distributed computing.

In the dynamic field of high-performance computing (HPC), collaboration and strategic support are crucial for driving innovation and maximizing research impact. The Centre of Excellence EXCELLERAT exemplifies this through its partnership with the Horizon Results Booster (HRB), an initiative by the European Commission designed to enhance the dissemination and exploitation of research results. This blog explores how EXCELLERAT, with HRB’s support, amplifies its outcomes and contributes to the broader Engineering community.

The Austrian-Slovenian HPC Meeting (ASHPC24) took place from June 10 13, 2024, in Grundlsee, Austria. This annual gathering has become a cornerstone for scientists and technicians in the high-performance computing (HPC) community, providing a platform to discuss the latest advancements and applications in HPC technology.

The Automotive Testing Expo Europe took place on June 4-6 in Stuttgart, featuring a new Industry-Academia Collaboration Area. This zone was designed to foster connections between the automotive industry and academic institutions, aiming to boost market competitiveness and highlight emerging talent. The goal was to encourage collaborations that drive innovation and progress.

From 12-16 May in Hamburg, ISC High Performance 2024 brought together more than 3,000 attendees from 51 countries, focusing on HPC, AI, and Quantum Computing. Highlights included Sophia Honisch (HLRS) introducing EXCELLERAT P2, showcasing HPC solutions for engineering challenges, and Dennis Grieger (HLRS) presenting advancements in in-situ visualization at WOIV’24.

The latest All Hands Meeting of EXCELLERAT P2 took place in Barcelona on January 30-31, 2024. This event marked a pivotal moment for the project, bringing together 31 experts from various disciplines to share insights, achievements, and strategies.

The synergy of AI and HPC is reshaping industries such as manufacturing, automotive, energy, aerospace, and climate research. From designing smarter vehicles to enabling sustainable energy sources and improving aerospace precision, AI and HPC are making engineering smarter, safer, and more sustainable.
