On October 16-17, 2024, the EXCELLERAT P2 project team gathered at CINECA in Bologna for the highly anticipated All-Hands Meeting. This event brought together experts and stakeholders in high-performance computing (HPC) to discuss the progress and future direction of the project.

The two-day event kicked off with a series of status updates from key work packages, including Management, Use-Case Execution, and Exa-HPC Methodologies. Highlights from the first day included an engaging session on the EXCELLERAT reference applications, where participants shared recent code achievements, followed by an in-depth discussion on workflow development for HPC applications led by Matthias Meinke from RWTH.

In addition to technical discussions, the meeting provided a platform to address user engagement and service promotion strategies. A workshop led by Tina Crnigoj Marc (Arctur) explored how to better promote the EXCELLERAT portal and increase service requests, reflecting the project’s ongoing efforts to enhance its user base. These sessions emphasized the importance of aligning technical progress with practical outreach to ensure the project’s long-term impact.

The second day shifted the focus towards creating impactful narratives around technical achievements. In the session “Transforming Technical Achievements into Success Stories”, participants brainstormed ways to communicate the project’s value to a wider audience. Industry-academia collaboration and agile methodology were also explored as key strategies for driving innovation in the HPC ecosystem.

The event not only provided valuable insights into EXCELLERAT’s current achievements but also fostered collaboration and community building, setting the stage for the next phase of the project.
